• Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.  It affects how we think, feel, and act.  It also helps to determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.  Mental health is important at every stage of life from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems, your thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected.  Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry; life experiences, such as trauma or abuse; or a family history of mental health problems.

Mental health problems are common, but help is available.  Clarke County Schools offer a variety of student counseling and mental health services for students.

    These services include:

    • General Guidance/ Counseling Services- These services include large and small group counseling covering a variety of topics such as behavior management, coping skills, decision-making, problem-solving, active listening, communication, relationship building, and other life skills.
    • Crisis Intervention- This includes short-term, immediate assistance by the school counselor or other mental health professional for a specific situation.
    • School-Based Mental Health- This includes counseling or therapy offered by school personnel or an outside partner.
